How to Install an APK on Bluestacks (Mac and Windows)

If you’re interested in playing mobile games on your computer, Bluestacks is an excellent emulator that lets you do just that. However, installing APK files onto Bluestacks isn’t as simple as downloading and running them as you do on Windows or Mac OS X; this article will show you exactly how to install an APK file onto Bluestacks, whether you’re on a Mac or PC!

Step 1: Android Apps with Google Play Store

Downloading an app from the Google Play Store is easy, but what if you need to install it on your computer? Thankfully, there are methods of installing the apk file. So you can access it through the Google Play store. The following instructions will walk you through how to do this. 

Bluestacks for Mac or Windows by going here. Once downloaded, open up the apk file and wait for it to finish installing. You may be prompted with a warning message that says This is not a real application, just click OK or Accept and then wait for the installation to finish. This should only take a few minutes at most.

Step 2: Enable Unknown Sources

In order to install the APK, you will need to enable Unknown sources in your security settings. To do this, open your device’s Settings app, scroll down and tap Security. From there, look for Unknown sources under ‘Personal.’ You can tap the toggle next to it, and it becomes green if it isn’t already enabled.

Step 3: Extract the downloaded file

3. Extract the downloaded file. Depending on your browser, right-click the apk file, select Open with, then select BlueStacks Emulator. Click OK when you see a message that BlueStacks is installing the app. Please wait for it to finish installing before opening it.

Step 4: Open up Bluestacks App Player

Once your Bluestacks App Player is open, click the search button in the top right-hand corner of your screen. Now type in the name of your app. Once you find it, simply click the app icon. If you haven’t downloaded it yet, then press download to be taken to its Google Play store page, where you can download it for free!

Step 5: Run Android Apps with Apks in Bluestack

To run Android apps with Apks in Bluestack, you first need to install the right emulator. For Mac users, you need BlueStacks. For PC users, you can use Andy or Nox App Player. Once you’ve downloaded one of these emulators, click Install and wait for the installation process to finish. 

Now all you have to do is download the apk file of the app that’s compatible with your device from the web or transfer it from your computer.
